Indian Institute of Arbitration & Mediation offers memberships to corporate houses, business groups, insurers, law firms, professional organizations, professionals and individuals. Members shall have one vote at the General Meeting of the Institute and for election of members to the Governing Council.

Member will be given a badge source code titled “Member of the Indian Institute of Arbitration & Mediation” to be placed in their web site.

CATEGORIES OF IIAM MEMBERSHIP

Patron Members:

Subject to their consent, the Chief Justice of India, Chairman, Law Commission, Government of India, the Chief Justices of the High Courts in India, the Attorney-General, the Solicitor-General, the Advocates-General of States, the Home Minister, the Finance Minister, the Minister of Law & Justice and the Minister for Human Resource Development in the Government of India will be invited to be the Patron Members of the Institute.

Charter Members:

Charter Members shall mean and include founder members who took active part in promoting and establishing the Institute.

Ex-officio Members:

Ex-officio Members shall mean and include present or retired Judges of the High Court or Supreme Court, Bureaucrats, Professors of Law with a teaching experience of 15 years in a Law College or University or Research Institute, Judicial Officers with 15 years experience in State Judicial Services and who pays a sum of Rs. 15,000/- to the corps of the Institute.

Corporate Members:

Corporate Members shall mean and include distinguished persons, organizations, institutions or corporates who are recognized and accepted by the Governing Council as a Corporate Member and who pays a one-time membership fee of Rs. 1,00,000/- to the corps of the Institute, or who pays a registration fee of Rs. 20,000/- and an yearly renewal fee of Rs. 15,000/-. Benefits and concessions can be availed by 3 representatives of the Corporate member. It can be expanded to include additional representatives at a discounted fee of Rs. 15,000/- (life) or Rs. 2500/- (annual) for each additional representative corporate member.

Ordinary Members:

Ordinary Members shall mean and include any person who is not a minor or any organization, institution, corporate or association and who is accepted by the Governing Council as an Ordinary Member and who pays a one-time membership fee of Rs. 35,000/- to the corps of the Institute or who pays a registration fee of Rs. 7500/- and an yearly renewal fee of Rs. 5000/-.

Reciprocal Members:

Reciprocal Members shall mean and include reputed organizations or institutions, including, but not limited to Chambers of Commerce, Trade organizations, Bar Associations, Professional Associations, which offer membership to the Institute on reciprocal arrangement accepting Ordinary Membership of the Institute. The membership shall be valid till the reciprocal arrangement continues.

THE BENEFITS OF BECOMING IIAM MEMBER

  • Charter Member, Ex-officio Member, Corporate Member, Ordinary Member and Reciprocal Member shall have one vote at the General Meeting of the Institute and for election of members to the Council.

  • Expert Committees and Users Committees will be formed from among the members for enhancing the quality and professionalism of ADR and for giving advice and opinions to the Governing Council.

  • Members will be eligible for special concessions or priorities to attend seminars conferences etc. organized by the Institute. Corporate Members can avail the special concessions and priorities for three (3) of their nominated representatives.

  • Members are entitled to special rates for participation in training programs, seminars, workshops on ADR organized by IIAM and other associate international institutions. Corporate Members can avail the special concessions and priorities for three (3) of their nominated representatives.

  • Members are eligible for special discounted rates for arbitration and mediation services, which provides you a dispute resolution method which has the same legal status of a court proceedings, but which does not have its hostile atmosphere, rigid formalities and which takes care of your convenience and gives you total confidentiality.

  • Members can avail special discounted rates for advice to draft/select its dispute resolution clause and assistance in referring the matter for mediation or arbitration and assistance in selecting mediators or arbitrators.

  • IIAM Charter, Corporate or Ordinary Life Member is eligible to start an IIAM Chapter in accordance with the IIAM Franchise system.

  • IIAM brings you the latest legal position of ADR and DPM methods by way of its newsmagazines / periodicals absolutely free.

TERMS OF IIAM MEMBERSHIP

  • The application for membership of the Institute shall be made in writing together with the applicable membership fees and deposited with the Governing Council who shall at their absolute discretion decide whether such applicant is to be made a Ex-officio / Corporate / Ordinary / Reciprocal Member of the Institute or not and if such application is rejected the said application money shall be refunded within a period of 30 days of such refusal without any interest.

  • The IIAM Member on requirement of utilization of IIAM services, shall utilize the same in accordance with the IIAM Arbitration / Mediation Rules in force.

  • The IIAM member agrees that they are willing to refer their dispute with any of the other IIAM member(s) for IIAM ADR.

  • The IIAM member agrees that they will not try to influence the IIAM arbitrators / mediators or the IIAM staff to secure their personal gain.

  • Annual IIAM memberships shall lapse on non-renewal of membership fees.

  • All or any rates are subject to change without prior notice.
